Adult Day Service Providers May Reopen on June 12

Governor Reynolds announced today that Adult Day Service (ADS) providers will be allowed to reopen on Friday, June 12, at 8 a.m. The proclamation states they can reopen, but with guidance from IDPH. At this time, no specific guidance has been posted regarding reopening, but IDPH has shared with LAI that they are working off Phase 2 of nursing facilities phased easing of restrictions guidance to build the ADS guidance.

IDPH stated in communications with LAI that they are not ready to publish guidance for ADS providers but will do so soon. LAI has sent several messages to IDPH, DIA, and the Governor’s office on the importance of reopening guidance for ADS providers. Unlike other provider types that have been open since March, ADS providers will need to implement COVID-19 related restrictions all at once. Many ADS members have indicated a desire for clear guidance from the state.

IDPH is working from Phase 2 of the nursing facility phased easing restriction guidance to create the ADS plan. IDPH highly recommended that ADS providers read through Phase 2 to get an idea of what is likely to be in the ADS reopening guidance. Phase 2 guidance covers areas like visitation, essential/non-essential personnel, non-medically necessary trips, communal dining, screening, universal source control and PPE, group activities, and testing.

LAI has prepared several resources for reviewing the phased reopening document for nursing facilities.

LAI will let ADS members know when official guidance is released by IDPH and will host a networking session to help support ADS members understand and work through the guidance.
