Infection prevention and control in long term care is a major focus of state and federal agencies. Long term care providers must provide safe, competent, person-centered care, including preventing and managing infections. This interactive workshop will include activities that address the required basic elements of an infection prevention and control program (IPCP), based upon Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations. A review of key policies to include hand hygiene and antibiotic stewardship. Discussion about Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) will take place including ways to integrate the infection prevention and control program into QAPI.
