Managed Care Contracting in Iowa - Where Is This Going and What Should We Be Doing Now?

David Driver, Associate, Strategic Health Care, Columbus, OH
In his position as a health care consultant with more than 38 years of experience in the health care field, David Driver works closely with the Strategic Health Managed Care Team to develop managed care networks for pre- and post-acute providers in the Midwest. Prior to joining Strategic Health Care, he worked in the hospital sector for Ohio Health as an internal auditor and then the director of finance for the Hospice and Homecare Divisions. He went on to serve as the CFO for Wexner Heritage Village earning an Honorable Mention as the Business First CFO of the Year in 2013. During his time as CFO of Wexner, Driver oversaw the development of several projects on campus that include Wexner Village Hospice program (Zusman Hospice), a physician practice (Polster Medical Center) as part of a  joint venture with a major hospital provider to develop an on-site physician office, lab with radiology, a dialysis center (Sonia Modes Schottenstein Pavilion), and obtained financing for the $18M Creekside Independent and Assisted Living project. His other responsibilities included Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, cost reports, HUD refinancing’s, managed care contract negotiations, compliance program development, medical record implementation, and finance and board committee presentations. Driver spent his last two years of his career as the senior vice president of Strategic Planning for National Church Residences. His responsibilities included the development of CCRC campuses in Florida ($42M) and Ohio ($20M) in addition to negotiating and analyzing the organization’s managed care contracts. Driver retired from National Church Residences in 2016 before Strategic Health Care asked him to consult for them on a part-time basis.

Arlene Jaroscak, Vice President, Network Management and Quality, Strategic Health Care, Columbus, OH
Arlene Jaroscak is the president of Innovative Long-term Care Advisors, a licensed nursing home administrator, registered nurse, clinical consultant, conference presenter, speaker, and author. She received her bachelor’s degree in long-term care administration from St. Joseph’s College of Maine and is a member of the Leadership Lorain County Class of 2009. As the vice president of network management and quality at Strategic Health Care, Jaroscak works with health care networks, managing their quality and contracting efforts, as well as the pay for performance initiatives of providers, including facilities, physicians and suppliers.  Her visionary executive leadership in health care and her passion for quality and serving seniors, has traversed the long-term care continuum.
