Breakout Session 103: Good Vibes - Wellness in the Workplace

At Bartels, the team has found that focusing on wellness has engaged our employees, complements our culture and values, and helps as a strategy for burnout, recruitment and retention. Although our wellness journey started with insurance Health Savings Accounts, it has grown into an overall wellness adventure and proven incredibly valuable. Hear about the lessons learned over the last 3 years as Bartels devoted significant time, effort and resources on employee wellness. We all know wellness can impact the body, the mind and the spirit, Bartels will describe just how much it has impacted their community!

Paula Geise, MSN, LNHA, CEO, Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly
Paula Geise currently serves as CEO of Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly. She has 35 years of experience in health care and three years in senior living. Paula is a very active promoter for Aging Services in Waverly and throughout the state and has been an active member of LeadingAge Iowa serving on committees and the board of directors.

Amber McLey, Human Resources Director, Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly
Amber McLey has been the Director of HR and Compliance Officer at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community since April of 2019.  She obtained her BAS in Human Resources at Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa.  Over the last 20 years, Amber has always served in people management, employee education and training, or employee engagement role.  Recently she has added the LAI Leadership Academy, Mental Health First Aide Instructor, and CPR instructor to her professional development.
